Billing

Prepaid hours, refunds for unused hours, renewals, auto-renew, bandwidth and kept disks.

Prepaid balance

Weir uses a prepaid balance in US dollars. When a machine starts, the hours you booked are paid from that balance. To top it up, see Adding funds.

Releasing early

Release a machine before its time is up and every unused whole hour is refunded to your balance. An hour that has started counts as used. Where the order shows a cancellation fee, up to 5% may be kept.

Example: you book 10 hours and release after 3 hours 20 minutes. Four hours count as used, and 6 hours go back to your balance, less any fee shown on the order.

Extending and auto-renew

You can extend a running machine with Renew. The extra time is paid from your balance.

Auto-renew can be turned on per machine. It charges your balance shortly before the current period ends. If the balance is too low at that point, the machine simply ends at the end of its period.

Bandwidth

Bandwidth above 32 Mbps is reserved and paid up front with the order. The part you do not use is refunded to your balance within 24 hours.

Kept disks

Some orders offer to keep the disks after a machine is released. A kept disk is charged hourly from your balance until you restart from it or delete it.

Usage ledger

The usage ledger lists every charge and refund on your account, line by line. Check it when a balance change is not what you expected.

To withdraw unused balance, see Refunds.
